First Day of School!

Yay! Today was the first day of school. Gavin started this year as a 3rd grader and Jordan started as a Kindergartener!

They looked so handsome, both wearing dark colored "skinny" jeans and red shirts with new shoes. They had fresh hair cuts and looked pretty "sharp" as grandpa would say. LOL

Gavin waving at his friends

I had to give Gavin a kiss by the car because he wouldn't kiss me in front of his friends he said. He said that it was so embarrassing. OMGosh! I could have picked up the pieces of my heart from the floor when he said that! But I acted like I was cool with it and gave him a biiiiiig kiss by the car. I was like paparazzi, I took about 32 pictures on the walk from the car to the playground. Gavin was once again "embarrassed". Oh well! I'm your mother, I told him, it's my job to chronicle your life through pictures! He is so popular in school and it scares me! I wouldn't want him to be the "nerd" but I'm worried that being in the "in" crowd will get him into trouble later on. Well, all I can do is raise him right and hope that he will choose the right path. As soon as he got back on that playground it was as if he never left. All his friends surrounded him, welcomed him and they went on to play a kickball game. He said that his teacher is really nice and yelled twice today because there were some students acting up. I told him that they were just testing their boundaries to see what they can get away with, with this new teacher. I am so proud of my Gavin, he is such a polite, sweet boy. I'm a very lucky mama!
When James and I walked Jordan to his class he was so excited. He didn't want to play on the playground though, he wanted to wait by the classroom. He must have been aching to get into class and learn! Haha! He was so confident and ready. I was so proud of him for being so brave. I admit, I did get teary eyed when we left him there. My baby Jordan is so funny, such a charmer, loud, very smart and handsome! Leaving my boys at school for the first time is so bittersweet...
Jordan had quite an eventful day for the first day of Kinder! The first thing he told me when he jumped into the car at parent pick up was, "Mommy! 2 girls hugged me at lunch today!" OMGoodness! Those little hootchies! LOL just kidding. But seriously?! He had a grin from ear to ear. Oh Lord, I'm in trouble. I asked him if they were his girlfriends and he said they were just friends. I told him that he cannot have a girlfriend, but he can have friends that are girls. He asked me, "when I'm 18 can I have a girlfriend?", I liked that age so I agreed. Well, I asked Gavin if the girls were cute or funky looking and he said that they were really cute. Oh no!
I tested Jordan to see if he really paid attention in class or was just daydreaming about girls and he passed! Brains and charm?! He recited ALL of the 6 rules back to me like nothing. He said that his teacher was really nice. She seemed nice when I met her. I received a call tonight, from his teacher----UH OH! It was like I was in school all over again, the second she said, "Mrs. Person? This is Mrs. Teacher, and I am calling about Jordan..." my heart sank down to my feet. A million thoughts raced through my mind: was she calling about the inappropriateness of the hugs? Was he his MICROPHONE self again (loud)? Did he act up in class? NOPE! None of the above... she called to tell me that Jordan was so well behaved and she was really looking forward to teaching him this year. AH! *tear My Jojo is grown and such a good boy. "Well behaved" keeps replaying over and over again in my head. A Person boy, "well behaved"? What a great thing to hear about your son/daughter.
I work so hard to raise my boys right and am always thinking about what am I doing now that will affect what kind of a man they will become. And you know what? I think that we are doing a great job, not perfect, but great!
